We What appears to be a single, isolated experience is actually a web of complex interactions, from the external phenomena to the neural firing in the brain to the extended nervous system. An experience begins with a sensorial connection with at least one of the sense organs coming in contact with an object. Within 200th of a millisecond our mind labels that sensorial contact with varying degrees of pleasant, unpleasant or indifferent. Memories of previous experiences are then triggered and from these responses emotions arise, which we usually respond to mentally and often physically. The chain of reactions happens so quickly that they appear to be spontaneous. We usually have very little control over our initial reaction and resultant action. ( control= mindful awareness )
